O enredo desenvolve-se numa pequena comunidade em Inhaca.
The plot takes place in a small community in KaNyaka
Depois de uma sessão de pesca, Jeremias e Januário voltam para casa desanimados.
After a fishing session, Jeremias and Januário return home discouraged
Januário– se continuarmos com este azar na pesca, vamos morrer de fome, juro.
Januário – If we continue with this bad luck in fishing, we will die with hunger, I swear.
Jeremias– foi só um mau dia, amanha será diferente. Realmente, hoje foram só picadas de mosquito.

Januário – (rindo) mas homem grande assim vai ter medo de mosquito? Sinceramente … mas yaaa picada de mosquito deixa-me irritado também. E alí onde vivemos, tem muito mosquito. Até parece que alguém trouxe um barco cheio deles e lhes deixou ali.

Januário– que reunião?
Januário – What meeting?
Jeremias– esqueceste? Estarão cá aqueles técnicos da saúde. Dizem que o nosso distrito está a ter números elevados de casos de malária. Vão nos explicar como podemos prevenir.
Jeremias – Have you forgotten? The health technicians will be here. They say our district is experiencing high number of malaria cases. They will explain to us how can we prevent it.
Januário– preferia que viessem cá os técnicos das pescas para nos dizer o que fizeram com os peixes.
Januário – I would prefer the technicians from fisheries department to come and tell us what they did with the fish.
Jeremias– (rindo) mas você meu amigo não leva jeito mesmo. Então não está preocupado com esses números elevados de pessoas que estão a morrer?
Jeremias (laughing) – But you, my friend, have no way. So, you are not concerned with the high numbers of people who are dying?
Januário– a minha esposa irá e depois vai me dar o relatório. Estou cansado para andar a aturar isso.
Januário – My wife will go, she will give me the report. I am tired to put up with that.
Jeremias– Januário, vemo-nos depois. Eu vou me despachar para depois ir a reunião. Diga ao nosso cliente o valor é o mesmo.
Jeremias – Januário, see you later. I am going to hurry up and then go to the meeting. Tell our customer that the price is the same.

Já é tarde, estamos na casa do Januário. Estão os dois almoçando.

Amelia– meu marido, estas redes mosquiteiras fomos oferecidas pelo governo e seus parceiros, para evitar que a gente apanhe malária. Nós fomos felizardos porque fizemos o registo, deram-nos a senha e depois recebemos as redes mosquiteiras. Há quem não apanhou porque não aceitou fazer o registo. Eu estou grávida e devo evitar apanhar malária. Disse a enfermeira no posto de saúde quando fui à consulta. Também me deu uma rede mosquiteira para proteger a mim ao bebé.
Amélia – My husband, The government and its partners offered us these mosquito nets to prevent us from catching malaria. We were fortunate because we registered, we received tickets then we received the mosquito nets. Some people did not receive it because they did not accept to register. As the nurse said, I am pregnant and I should avoid getting malaria. That’s why he gave me a mosquito net to protect the baby.
Januário– mulher, pensa comigo. Eu não posso dormir dentro dessa coisa. A mim me sufoca, até parece que estou numa gaiola feito um pintainho. Não quero. Podemos deixar a rede mosquiteira das crianças, mas nos dois não precisamos.

Januário– mas também podemos ver outro plano, tú dormes debaixo da rede mosquiteira com as crianças, na rede mosquiteiras deles e eu qua não quero ser sufocado, vou dormir sozinho e levo essa rede mosquiteira que ti deram no posto de saúde para a pesca. Assim funciona melhor.

Nesse instante, entra o secretário do bairro.

Secretário Nyaka– viva amigo januário. Como tem passado? Não o vi na reunião.
Secretary Nyaka – Greetings my friend Januário. How have you been? I didn’t see you at the meeting.
Januário– acabava de voltar da pesca e estava mesmo cansado.

Januário– amigo Nyaka, líder do bairro e pessoa que eu respeito muito, não é de boa educação querer saber coisas de casa dos outros. Alguma preocupação o traz aqui na minha casa?

Secretario– as minas desculpas meu amigo. Apenas trago uma convocatória. Somos pescadores e temos passado por situações difíceis, principalmente quando a época da pesca fecha. Temos que ver como podemos sobreviver nesses tempos.

Secretário– não posso esperar. Tenho que aproveitar inspeccionar algumas pessoas que levaram redes para depois venderem. Aquelas redes são para usarem como protecção.

Só podemos apanhar com essa rede.
Januário – No, but when the fishing season starts, we are at a disadvantage competing with them. And another thing, since I know myself as a man, since I learnt fishing from my dad and then my older brothers, we never had any problems eating small dried fish curry. Those small fishes, we can only catch up with that mosquito net.
